WINERY MANAGER
Waitiri Creek is a boutique family-owned wine company, which seeks to promote its premium wines alongside the natural beauty of Central Otago to a wide range of international and domestic visitors to the region. The company commenced operations in 1994.
Located in Gibbston Valley 25 kilometres east of Queenstown, Waitiri Creek is planning for a significant increase in visitor numbers to their new tasting room, cellar door and cafe. Waitiri Creek will also host functions, weddings and special events.
Key Objectives
The Winery Manager will be a key member of the management team. The role is primarily responsible for ensuring that clients and visitors have a wonderful experience. Another key objective is to promote and build the Waitiri Creek brand in Central Otago with visitors and local customers. The KPI’s for the role will include wine sales, new wine club memberships and hosting functions.
Skills and Experience Required
The role requires a special person with strong people & selling skills plus deep wine or hospitality experience. Ideally the manager will have considerable hospitality industry experience coupled with in-depth knowledge of international food trends and Central Otago wines. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate his or her ability to sell and deliver great outcomes in the hospitality sector. They will have strong interpersonal skills and be a great communicator.
A sound understanding of current liquor licensing laws and host responsibilities is essential and a key requirement is a current General Manager’s liquor license.
Reporting to the Manager from time to time will be casual and part time staff. The successful candidate will require a working knowledge of relevant NZ employment legislation.
