Leveret Mills Reef is one of New Zealand’s leading wine companies with Vineyards in Hawkes Bay and Marlborough and wineries in Katikati and Maraekakaho, Hawkes Bay. We are well known for our premium wines which have outperformed on the national and international wine stage.

To continue this record, we are seeking a highly motivated, passionate Senior Winemaker with a commitment to quality to run the winery at Hawkes Bay.

Reporting to the Chief Winemaker based at the Katikati winery the role requires:

• Management of our winery laboratory
• Winemaking record keeping
• Management of all systems and records for winery compliance and accreditations
• Winemaking duties in the cellar, as required
• Manage our sustainability programme
• Health and Safety leadership
• Manage vintage operations, including but not limited to fruit receival, crushing, pressing and fermentation
• Maintain existing and new relationships with external suppliers of winery consumables and equipment
• Undertake regular benchmarking
• Manage vintage operations including but not limited to fruit receival, crushing, pressing and fermentation
• Maintain existing and new relationships with external suppliers of winery consumables and equipment

Skills:

• A qualification in winemaking or similar
• Experience in winemaking and/or lab management in a leadership role
• A strong customer and quality focus
• Good communication skills
• Team orientation and leadership skills
• Experience using winery software programmes
• Have a positive attitude and hands-on approach
• Manage vintage operations, including but not limited to fruit receival, crushing, pressing and fermentation
• Maintain existing and new relationships with external suppliers of winery consumables and equipment
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a small team
