Head of Channel Marketing (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

The role:

Reporting to the Director of Sales and leading the entire Channel Marketing function, the successful candidate will have 4 direct reports and 6 indirect. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership to the entire team, enabling the team to use channel and customer insights to develop strategic direction, activation plans and execution tools for the sales team to ensure DB creates maximum sustainable value.

This role is also responsible for:

  • Driving the channel strategy across on-premise and off-premise utilising rich data and insights
  • Driving forward the customer strategy; ensuring it is optimised for maximum engagement
  • Developing clear execution plans to ensure targets and objectives are set for the sales team
  • End-to-end planning of integrated business plans in conjunction with brand marketing,  Develop, in conjunction with Brand marketing, integrated annual business plans to ensure brand growth in the market place.
  • Developing and evaluating promotional strategies, including setting the pricing strategy to consistently grow value is a crucial aspect of this role.

About you:

Previous experience leading a successful team is imperative, as is a strong background in either sales and/or marketing. You will be tertiary qualified and have strong demonstrated negotiation skills and strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand ROI on above the line and below the line investment decisions. In depth analytical ability is key for this role as you will be extrapolating insight and meaning from data in order to set strategy.

You will be an excellent communicator, able to effectively articulate your message across multiple key stakeholders in the business to achieve growth in DBs brands and market share.

You will also:

  • Min 3 years in a trade/channel marketing position
  • Strong experience in Category management
  • Leadership experience; especially in the areas of defining strategic agendas and establishing team priorities
  • Have exposure to Nielson reporting
  • Be intermediate or above level Excel skills
  • Have min 10 years experience in an FMCG environment
