Hill Laboratories is an analytical testing laboratory and a 100% privately owned New Zealand company. We supply a broad range of laboratory tests to domestic and international markets and use the latest technologies to supply the most accurate and reliable results available.
We have a new opportunity for an experienced laboratory technician to join our expanding and dynamic section Environmental Organics Instrument team. The successful candidate will be based at our Hamilton branch and will gain valuable work experience and practical training in a professional laboratory environment.
This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Duties will include, but will not be restricted to, loading instruments and working up data, preparing standards, repair and maintenance of analytical instruments.

- Self-disciplined with proven ability to follow set procedures and take the initiative when necessary
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Confidence when working with complex instrumentation
- Able to work effectively without direct supervision
- Good analytical/technical skills - attention to detail, accuracy & precision
- Effective communication skills
Key competencies include:
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Experience with routine troubleshooting of LC-MS or GC-MS
- Solid knowledge/experience of GC or LC systems
- Working knowledge of chromatography data analysis software such as Mass hunter/Chemstation
A degree in Chemistry and a minimum of 12 months experience in a high throughput commercial laboratory are essential.
