We are a small, successful, independently-owned wine importer and distributor. For 17 years our company has combined passion with innovation to provide highly-rated wines to an ever changing market.
We are seeking an experienced, conscientious and self-motivated sales person to take over an existing call-cycle in the Auckland area and represent an expanding portfolio of reputable European, Australian and New Zealand wines.
The successful applicant will inherit a very solid sales platform, a platform that we are looking to grow and develop through the current suite of brands along with new ones regularly coming on stream.
The role
Reporting to and working closely with the business owner, this is a stimulating, autonomous role with a wide variety of accounts and exciting products in which you will be rewarded for achievement.
The successful applicant will inherit a very solid sales platform that we are looking to grow and develop through the current suite of brands along with new ones regularly coming on stream.
You'll be responsible for:
- Driving the ongoing management and development of strong customer relationships at a store level across various channels including Grocery, Traditional Liquor, Independent and on-line operators.
- Helping to develop sales strategy with the owner through to implementation.
- Managing and implementing promotional activity and merchandising across your accounts.
- Identification and pursuit of new business prospects within the region.
This is a full-time permanent position, based in Auckland. Occasional out of town travel may be required. You will also need to have certain degree of flexibility in hours to accommodate the needs of clients and events. Weekend or evening hours may be required but this will be the exception rather than the rule.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in the wine industry with a strong off-premise focus and a track record of building sales within a highly competitive market.
- A skilled relationship-builder who is well presented, has an outgoing personality and strong communication skills.
- A determined, self-starter with a high level of energy who is able to work autonomously and respond positively to constructive feed-back.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and manage your day-to-day workload is essential.
- You will be the face and personality of our brands, so you must have an interest in wine and a willingness to learn about our diverse product range.
- The motivation and desire to develop the skillset required to move into National Key Account management over time will be advantageous.
- Computer literacy (word and excel) and a valid NZ driver's license are essential.

This is an important role within our company and an attractive remuneration package appropriate to the experience and skills of the applicant will be negotiated which will include a company car, laptop, mobile phone and expense account.
