Wine Marlborough represents the interests of all wine companies and grape growers in Marlborough and is right at the centre of the Marlborough's incredibly successful wine industry. Marlborough contributes approximately 80 percent of New Zealand's $1.6 billion in exports and produces about the same share of New Zealand's wine production. Wine is our 5th largest export and growing steadily.
This 12-month fixed term role of Advocacy Manager is based in Blenheim.
The Advocacy Manager will help us work across different areas of labour and advocacy and help manage and solve some of the challenges we face due to the Marlborough wine industry being in growth mode. Managing this growth is a key challenge for Marlborough's regional wine body as well as all stakeholders. Our success depends on being able to attract, accommodate and support a growing number of workers, at all levels due to increased plantings and production. Helping manage and solve these challenges is where this new role will make a difference. Alongside this will be other advocacy work with policies that affect the wine industry at a regional level. The role will support work done at our national level where relevant. Experience at a strategic level is required to prove you can make an impact and that commercial objectives are met.
Your skills will reflect the above and you will have;
• The ability to operate at a strategic level
• Experience working with or in either central or local government
• Awareness of current human resource, employment and labour market practices
• Direct experience working with and developing plans for groups of stakeholders
• The desire to work as part of a small but influential team
• Understanding of workforce planning and attraction strategies
• Ability to assume responsibility and lead projects
