Vigneto is a family owned and operated business, we are currently seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to join our team based in the Gisborne area.
The business compromises 60 hectares of Kiwifruit operations spread between Opotiki and Gisborne. Along with a shareholding in another 40 hectares with two companies with packing and cool storage operations. In addition a significant part of the Vigneto business is 50 hectares of owned vineyards along with providing contract management services for a further 45 hectares of clients vineyards.
This position requires strong leadership skills, a strong financial skill set an the ability to develop and implement successful management strategies. This is a senior position reporting directly to the Owner with 4 direct reports.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ability to lead, manage, develop and motivate a team to consistently deliver operational performance.
- Ensuring all aspects of the business are managed in a professional manner with a customer orientated focus
- Ability to manage, plan and coordinate seasonal fruit growing & harvesting
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior operations management role, successfully leading team in the planning and co-ordination of seasonal fruit growing and harvesting
- Proven experience in commercial, contract and financial management
- Strong commitment to Occupational Health & Safety
- Proven ability to inject culture, vision and values into a business
- Ensure the company's quality program is implemented and monitored to meet legislative, industry and best practice standards.
- Plan and manage capital resources to meet business targets and return on funds
- Strategic capability - the ability to think beyond immediate issues and consider long term and broader implications
The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a General Manager or Operations Manager or exceptional skills and performance in a senior operations from a larger business unit. Experience in horticulture or primary industry would be beneficial but not essential.
