We’re currently experiencing a period of growth and have recently acquired two new vineyards estates in to our property. With this growth has come with the need for a Vineyard manager to oversee the execution of tasks, quoting, recording and reporting, repairs and maintenance, OH&S, security and quality assurance of our new vineyards. A high focus on people management, ability to strategize/plan, manage finances/resources and work in with others across departments is critical to this role.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Develop weekly work plans and control daily duties of employees and contractors.
- Ensure vineyard operations are carried out efficiently and effectively as communicated with, and as agreed by the Vineyard Operations Manager and Viticulturist.
- The implementation and record keeping of CBV herbicide, fungicide & fertiliser programs and all soil management activities
- Overseeing vine pruning activities as per the company pruning plan.
- Conduct irrigation activities as per the irrigation schedule; including fertigation, maintenance of the irrigation systems, and interpreting information from the soil moisture measuring devices.
- Manage performance, job specifications, costs, morale and training of the Rapaura vineyard team in conjunction with Company policy & procedures.
- Ensure maximum productivity and compliance with all workplace Occupational Health & Safety regulations and policies.
In order to succeed in this position, you will have:
- Extensive practical vineyard experience and general knowledge of farming systems and staff management
- Experience in a multi-department environment and strategic planning
- Experience in horticulture and horticultural engineering
- Developed standards of critical analysis and empirical rigor, cost/benefit approach
- High standards of thoroughness accuracy and practicality in workmanship
- Company OH & S programme - commitment and knowledge
