Kahurangi Estate in the Nelson region is a medium size winery producing quality wines for 6 different variety (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Montepulciano). Grown either on the estate's vineyard or by our suppliers, the grapes are monitored, picked and processed at winemakers request. In addition, the winery also produces a number of contract wines, for local growers of the region.
We are on the hunt for vintage cellar hands with experience (at least 2 vintages) to join our small team. Employment will be offered for 6 to 8 weeks, roughly between mid-march to mid-May, depending on the season.
The successfull applicant will be undertaking varied jobs rainging from basic laboratory analyses, grape receival and pressing, transfers, racking, lees filtering (plate and frame, RDV), floating, barrel filling, additions, tank and equipement cleaning, plunging and pump-overs, red fermenter filling and emptying, to net removal and hand picking if required, all under the guidance of our winemakers.
Shift and week-end work, along with some night shifts will be required, depending on the weather and the picking requirements. A current NZ fork-lift licence and/or light truck licence are an advantage but not an obligation. We do require a good level of english to apply for this job.
