Vineyard Leading Hand
Tantalus Vineyard is a high quality predominately Bordeaux-blend winegrower located on Waiheke Island, a 35 minute ferry from Auckland. Our primary focus is producing exceptional premium blended red wines for both our domestic and international markets. Our cellar door and restaurant are currently undergoing extensive renovations with the Grand Opening forecast for September 2015.
The position currently advertised as Vineyard Leading Hand provides opportunity to join our company in a time of growth. We are committed to continuous training and education, and experience with our Viticulturalist can lead to many career pathways.
We are currently seeking a suitably experienced and enthusiastic Vineyard - Leading Hand to supervise & conduct day to day operations & viticulture tasks.
Reporting to the Viticulturalist, your main duties will include:
- Supervision of day to day vineyard labour operations, viticulture & machinery duties;
- Ensuring efficient use of labor, resources, plant & equipment;
- Establishing & maintaining Safe Operating Procedures for all viticulture operations;
- Inducting new employees & Training in viticulture tasks;
- All usual Vineyard Hand Tasks;
- Record keeping & basic administrative tasks; &
- Other duties as required;
The successful applicant will have supervising experience, be tertiary qualified in viticulture and be able to demonstrate practical knowledge.
Tractor skills and a current grow safe/handlers certificate are essential. First aid and OSH qualifications would be beneficial.
