Culprit is thrilled to announce that we are looking for someone to join our leadership team. We are in a period of growth and are currently seeking to find an enthusiastic and self-motivated General Manager with a passion for the industry, experience in leadership and a sharp eye for detail.
Culprit is a 60 seat contemporary eatery located in the heart of Auckland City, an upstairs loft restaurant at 12 Wyndham Street. Culprit’s food is inspired by local seasonal ingredients, prepared with a playful and nostalgic approach. We thrive off the energy, drive and creativity of our teams. Through food, drinks and our service we find ways of creating lasting memories and opportunities of surprise, whether that be through carefully selected ingredients, unique preparations or service delivery. We love to keep things simple and humble, relying on the quality of produce supplied by farmers & suppliers that have become firm friends of Culprit over the years.
The small but mighty cocktail lounge across the road from Culprit is Little Culprit whether it’s a pit stop at aperitivo hour or a casual business thing. A beautiful and well thought out space, you can easily linger long into the evening here amid the velvet curtains, comfy leather booths and humming, low-lit energy.

Culprit is the restaurant from owner and chef Kyle Street. Street started his career working in London and Chicago, before returning back to New Zealand in 2011 to open Depot and Federal Delicatessen with Al Brown. Culprit opened in 2016 and has cemented itself as part of the unique landscape of Auckland dining, receiving regular accolades for both food, service and design.

You will be responsible for…
- Running smooth and profitable services to a high operational standard
- Driving the recruitment, training and the development of your team
- Ensuring the maintenance of high productivity and great staff morale
- Conducting monthly performance management appraisals
- Writing costed rosters that adhere to budgets
- Building rapport with guests to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business
- Working closely with Kyle to manage reservations
- Planning and execution of functions and special events
- Working with external collaborators to enhance the business
An ideal candidate will have experience leading service within a high-quality venue, in depth knowledge of food and wine and the ability to contribute to the financial performance of both Culprit & Little Culprit. We are looking for a generous manager, someone who is willing to share their time, knowledge and love for what they do.
