Duty Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

About MOW: We are located at the very Eastern end of Waiheke Island at the stunning Man O’ War Bay. We have a genuine passion for producing the very best wine and have a deep respect for the land.  We are searching for a highly-motivated candidate to join our management team in delivering service at our Cellar Door restaurant and assisting delivery of Events. This candidate needs to be an outgoing professional Hospitality Duty Manager who can create a positive environment for the public and staff that enhances the experience, brand and loyalty.

A bit about the role:

• Deliver exceptional customer service experience while monitoring and upholding the Sales of Alcohol legislation.
• Effective use of retail merchandise strategies to optimise Store presentation, promotional display and most importantly generate sales.
• Overseeing all aspects of cash handling, stock management and Health & Safety
• Coach and mentoring team members in all aspects of day-to-day operation and on-going product training.

A bit about you:

To be successful in this role, you'll be professional with a real focus on customer service, you pride yourself on your ability to communicate at all levels and maintain your cool head whilst solving problems under pressure. You'll also have proven Food and Beverage experience gained in a reputable restaurant and sound supervisory skills as you will be looking after up to 5-20 F&B attendants on shift. 

Mandatory attributes:

• Legislative requirements – employment relations, health & Safety, food safety, responsible service of alcohol and Host Responsibility
• Current GM Certificate & LCQ qualification
• Sound and proven oral and written communication skills and preferred second language, Spanish, French or German
• Medium to high level of computer literacy Microsoft office and Pos systems
• Comprehensive wine and beverage knowledge, including wine and food matching
• WSET or unit standards in Wine knowledge
• Experience in Wine Tours
• Full drivers’ license and Passenger License (P License) 
• Experience with Booking systems
• Experience with Rostering systems 
• First Aid Certificate

As a busy, fast paced operation that can open, 7 days a week, there is a lot of variety across our shift patterns and hours of work can vary, so flexibility will be key. Due to legal requirements, you must be over the age of 20 to be considered for the role. Also, you will need to reside on Waiheke.
