Experienced Bartender & Server (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Tantalus Estate is accepting expressions of interest for mid-August start for the roles of Experienced Bartenders & Servers.  These role involves close communication with the manager on duty and making sure customers receive the highest quality and most professional of service. In these roles you will go above and beyond and create a memorable experience for each guest with your knowledge of our estate, food, wine, beers, cocktails, chefs, brewers and wine makers.

This role requires:

• Knowledge about wines, beers, cocktails, and food

• Ability to work in a team
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
• Ability to handle pressure and high stress situations and maintain a relaxed and positive manner 

Duties include:

• Customer service
  • Greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Completing food and drink orders
  • Taking customer orders in a professional and friendly manner
  • Ensure tables are properly maintained and cleared, drinks are topped up, etc.
  • Running and clearing of plates and glasses
  • Barista and Cocktail expertise required
• Opening and closing duties
  • Setting up restaurant in an efficient and tidy manner
  • Ensure restaurant is clean and ready for the following days service
• Wine Service
  • Proper opening and pouring of wine bottles

Flexibility in hours and days of the week a must. A minimum of 1+ years in a similar role is essential. International service experience is an asset, but not required. Must be versed in responsible service of alcohol. Must be willing to live on the island as this role may require you to miss the last ferry in the evening. Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
