We seek a qualified and motivated person to join the Advocacy team on an 11-month contract at New Zealand Winegrowers – the organisation that represents, promotes and researches the interests of all of New Zealand's grape growers and winemakers. Our Advocacy team is dedicated to protecting the wine sector's ability to produce, market and sell their wines competitively around the world.
The role is based in Auckland. The key responsibilities are to assist the General Manager Advocacy in:
- managing legal advice to the organisation;
- leading the provision of information to members on a wide range of regulatory areas including wine and food standards, resource management, licensing, excise, health and safety, intellectual property, etc; and
- developing and representing industry positions on regulatory issues facing the wine industry.
The position will involve some travel throughout New Zealand. The successful candidate will be a lawyer with at least 2-3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in areas relating to government policy, food law or wine business. Comfort in reviewing basic contracts, excellent communication and advocacy skills, and the ability to pick up new subject areas quickly, are essential.
The role is an 11-month fixed term parental leave cover.
