The Wine Ecology Group within the University of Auckland is currently undertaking a program of research looking to develop lighter wines through use of native yeasts. This project is funded by New Zealand Winegrowers as part of their Primary Growth Partnership 'Lighter Wines' programme seeking to produce high quality, naturally produced, lower alcohol wines. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant to assist with ongoing research activities in the preparation, set up and performance of experiments within a portfolio of wine projects. 

To be considered for this role you, you must have: 

• BSc (Honours) or MSc in Biological Science or Chemistry
• Experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Advanced research and analysis skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Sound computer skills in MS Word and Excel
• Well-organised with excellent problem solving skills

This role is an 11 month fixed-term contract working 0.5 FTE. This role is based at the Faculty of Science at University of Auckland.
