Vineyard Foreman
We are currently seeking a Vineyard Foreman that is a motivated, reliable, practical thinking team player, to conduct day-to-day operations and can operate a range of vineyard machinery at our established Waiheke Island vineyard.
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience in various hillside vineyard machinery operations such as tractors, quad bikes, ride-on mowers and spraying equipment. Main duties and use of such equipment will include mowing, spraying, undervine weeding/spraying and cultivation.
Your secondary duties will include, but not limited to:
- Supervision of day-to-day vineyard labour operations, viticulture and hand-held machinery duties
- Ensuring efficient use of labour, resources, plant and equipment
- Establishing and maintaining Safe Operating Procedures for all viticulture operations
- Inducting new employees and training in viticulture tasks
- Other duties as required
The successful applicant will have 2-5 years’ experience using vineyard machinery, supervising vineyard workers and be able to demonstrate practical knowledge. Hillside tractor and machinery skills and a current grow safe/handlers certificate are essential. First aid, OSH qualifications and tertiary-qualified in viticulture would be beneficial.

Vineyard Worker
We are currently seeking Vineyard Workers to fill a number of positions. The ideal candidates will be motivated, reliable, practical thinking team player who enjoy varied outdoor tasks on our established Waiheke Island vineyard.
General Vineyard Duties, include but are not limited to:
- Help prepare soil, plant vines and fertilise
- Tucking and vine training through the growing season
- Assist in the construction and repair of wire trellises to support vines and fruit
- Identify pests and aid in disease control
- Assist with and help supervise grape picking and vine pruning
- Leaf plucking, thinning, bud rubbing and de-lateralling
- Participate in general grounds work and light landscaping
- Winery work as requested by the Winemaker/Viticuluralist – particularly around vintage
- Comply with Tantalus Estate’s Company Rules and Procedures.
- Other duties as required
Successful applicants will live or would be happy to live or relocate to Waiheke Island, a 35-minute ferry from Downtown Auckland. Applicants must be legally entitled to work and live in New Zealand.
