Viticultural and Oenological Technician (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

An opportunity has arisen for a Winery Technician at our Clevedon vineyard. We are a small estate-bottled property located on the rolling hills southeast of Auckland, Puriri Hills is famed for bottling authentic and boutique blended red wine since 1999.

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Viticultural and Oenological Technician to join our team on a permanent/full-time basis. All our grapes are grown, fermented, barrel aged, and bottled onsite. Therefore, experience with all areas of wine growing and wine making is required for this position in our small-scale operations. Your tasks will include facilitating and supervising the production of estate-bottled ultra-premium wines.

A successful candidate will require:

•  At least a 2-year horticulture or viticulture tertiary qualification
• At least 2 years paid experience in a comparable scale viticulture position, with a company producing premium quality grapes and wine
• Wide-ranging mechanical and technical proficiencies
• practical experience and technical skill in conducting tests with oenological analytical equipment
• Good problem-solving skills across all vineyard operations
• Experience of a paid harvest position assisting with cellar operations such as tank preparation, winery cleanliness and wine barrel operations
• A WSET qualification is preferred
• Detailed understanding of permaculture practices working with the soil
• Must live in Auckland
• Be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or have permission to work in New Zealand
