Assistant Vineyard Manager
Carrick Vineyard in Central Otago has a small team devoted to growing high quality organic grapes. We are in search of a skilled all-rounder to join the team and help us grow our awesome fruit.
At least 3 years previous wine industry experience and a relevant tertiary education are essential.
Our ideal candidate will be physically fit and able to communicate effectively with people in a friendly manner. They will hold a clean Drivers Licence and must have vineyard experience including:
· Supervision of staff
· Machinery operation, service and maintenance
· Spraying (holding Growsafe Certificate would be beneficial)
· Trellis repairs
· Grape pest and disease monitoring/identification
· Irrigation operation, maintenance and problem solving
· Record keeping
· Experience with Biodynamic farming principles would also be beneficial
Answering to the General Manager – Viticulturist, key roles will include directing the day to day operations in the vineyard including machinery operation, irrigation operation and maintenance, frost fighting and overseeing a number of replant projects. Our ideal applicant will be able to maintain smooth operation of the vineyard in the absence of the GM – Viticulturist. This position is multi-faceted roll, on-the-job training will be given where required.
