Reporting to the Cellar Manager, we are looking for a Senior Cellar Hand to lead and support Cellar Hands team in maintaining the quality of wine throughout processing, fermentation and ageing, and then delivering finished product to Production.

In this position, you will be responsible for :

  • Ensuring all wines are produced to agreed quality standards and in a timely manner, and works areas are maintained in an appropriate state of cleanliness, organization and hygiene
  • Acting on quality problems
  • Performing cellar duties from plans delivered by the Cellar Manager and ensuring cellar operations are conducting accordingly
  • Being a cooperative and constructive member of the Cellar Hands team and supporting them to complete tasks
  • Participating in orientation and induction programs for new cellar personnel and ensuring communication is effective and honest
  • Reporting all cellar issues or quality problems to the Cellar Manager
  • Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Identifying risks within the work environment and participating in the completion of all required risk assessments
  • Participating in the Vintage season as a team leader

In order to be successful in this position you will have :

  • Degree in Oenology or equivalent (desirable)
  • At least 5 years of cellar experience in a supervision role
  • Thorough understanding of basic winemaking principles and winery processes
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team and to resolve conflicts
  • Multi-tasking, organizational, time-management skills and ability to perform under pressure
  • Developed written and verbal skills : excellent English skills, French is a plus
  • Safety awareness and strong understanding of Health & Safety and hygiene codes of conduct
  • Forklift License
  • First Aid Certificate
