Established in 1994, we kept our beautiful family-owned and operated wine estate small to produce some of New Zealand’s most respected artisan, estate bottled wines from our 11.5-hectare organic certified vineyard.
Hans and Therese Herzog are the stewards of this beautiful plot of land and maintain a holistic approach to farming. Their handcrafted wines come in small quantities but have stolen the hearts of wine lovers all over the world.
Hans is obsessive about fruit quality and to make his pure, fine wines, extensive vineyard work is needed, and the vines nurtured with immaculate detail to produce a low yield crop of healthy, exceptionally concentrated fruit.
Hans is hands on and hardworking but cannot do it all alone and is looking for someone with great physical strength and endurance for a hands-on role involving all day-to-day operations in the vineyard plus some winery cellar work.
Key task for this role include:
- tractor operations such as cultivating, under-vine weeding, mulching, moving, spraying, canopy trimming, leaf plucking
- canopy management, hand-pruning and vine training, netting the vineyard
- hand-picking and all other harvest activities
You will need good machinery operation skills and must have the ability to work without supervision.
Our ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in the quality of their work, has a willingness to learn and enjoys working outdoors. A “Jack of all trades” with a’ can do’ attitude who doesn’t mind doing the odd not wine related job on our farm.
We are a small team, and our new colleague should have a happy disposition beside the required skills. Also, our motivation is creating amazing, handcrafted wines not financial gain.
