We're an award-winning, family-owned, organic winery in North Canterbury, just 45 minutes north of Christchurch. We have a strong reputation for our naturally made wines and our winery restaurant, celebrating 11 years. We focus on organic, locally sourced and quality produce and are extremely passionate about what we do.
We're looking for our next Restaurant Manager. You will become a part of our team and our community of customers and members of the local and global wine and food industry.
We focus on authenticity, ensuring our guests can taste and experience real wine and food and the place that is Black Estate.
The Opportunity:
The Restaurant Manager role will involve:
- Running all aspects of the Restaurant & Cellar Door (open for lunch 5 days, Thursday - Monday)
- Leading a fun team of up to 5 front of house
- Hosting and running lunch service
- Rostering, recruitment, training
- Organising and scheduling bookings via Resdiary
- Managing and overseeing private events
- Working closely with the Head Chef
- Driving sales, managing payroll, wages & supplier costs
- Hosting occasional evening functions.
- We're happy to consider 4 days a week if preferred.

About you:
- Proven experience in a similar management role for 2 years
- Passionate about organic wine and food and wishes to learn more
- Likes to lead, inspire others and have a good time
- Interested in organic, biodynamic and regenerative agriculture.
- Is creative and dynamic, happy with a short menu that changes often to reflect our environment
- High attention to detail and is able to ensure staff are well trained and knowledgeable
- Is always looking at ways to improve systems and the business
As the new manager, you will be supported by a knowledgeable family and team to ensure you understand our vineyards and wines well, the region and local food stories.
