Matt Connell Wines is on the lookout for a passionate and capable Cellar Hand to join our small, hands-on company in the heart of Central Otago.
We craft a diverse range of aromatic whites and Pinot Noir, both under our own label and for a portfolio of high-quality contract clients. Working from our Cromwell-based facility, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role across all stages of production in an environment where your input truly matters.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work closely with the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker across all aspects of vineyard intake, fermentation, maturation, and finishing. Additionally you will also run a crossflow filter to provide filtration services for a number of wineries when required.
What we’re looking for
We’re after someone who is confident, practical, and thrives in a dynamic setting.
You’ll bring:
- At least 2 years’ experience in cellar and production, including some lab knowledge
- A self-driven attitude with the ability to work unsupervised
- forklift skills (licence preferred)
- Excellent people skills and communication
- Physically fit and capable of manual plunging a variety of tank sizes up to 5 tonne and dealing with a large amount of barrel work
- A good sense of humour
- Enjoy working by yourself at times
- Enjoy problem solving and have a can do attitude
