We are offering places in a 12-month cadetship where you will train on the job to gain NZ qualifications via Primary Industry Training Organisation (PITO) and earn as you learn.
Places are available on orchards and vineyards in Cromwell, Alexandra and Roxburgh. All we need from you is a positive, ENTHUSIASTIC and a can do attitude.
A driver’s licence and your own transport would be an advantage but is not essential.
Seasonal Solutions Co-operative Ltd (SSCO) and their member growers have a 12-month cadetship in place in Central Otago to encourage people of all ages to consider horticulture or viticulture as a career.
The cadetship offers on the job training to a minimum of Level 2 National Certificate in either Horticulture or Viticulture. The Primary Industry Training Organisation unit standard costs are from $350 - $1000 and will be negotiated at the time of application dependant on the course choices. SSCO will pay the initial $350 for your base units.
SSCO will be your employer and offers a minimum of 35 hours per week at minimum wage. The grower has the discretion to increase the level of wages and hours.
You would need to make yourself available for longer hours when the opportunity arises.
SSCO places cadets with the growers and provides guidance and encouragement during the 12 month period. PITO and the grower both support the cadet with hands-on training and any written learning.
Although we accept applications year round, we will be recruiting and interviewing for our Summer season this October. Part of this process is matching the cadet with the grower to ensure maximum positive results.
The desired outcome is that the cadet will be offered the opportunity for permanent employment or an apprenticeship in horticulture or viticulture.
