We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Vineyard Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our 26-hectare boutique vineyard in Cromwell.
This is a key leadership role for a passionate viticulturist who takes pride in producing premium fruit, maintaining exceptional vineyard standards and leading a capable seasonal and permanent team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all day-to-day vineyard operations across 26 hectares
- Planning and overseeing pruning, canopy management, spraying, irrigation and harvest
- Monitoring vine health, crop levels, maturity and fruit quality
- Leading permanent and seasonal vineyard staff and contractors
- Operating tractors and vineyard machinery, as required
- Managing spray programmes, irrigation, machinery and vineyard infrastructure
- Maintaining accurate vineyard records and SWNZ accreditation
- Managing budgets, labour costs, compliance and health and safety
- Working closely with winemaking and senior management to achieve premium fruit quality
About You
You will ideally have:
- Proven vineyard management or senior viticulture experience
- Strong practical viticulture and vineyard machinery skills
- Experience managing staff, contractors and seasonal teams
- Sound knowledge of spraying, irrigation and vineyard maintenance
- A strong understanding of sustainable viticulture and SWNZ requirements
- Excellent organisation, leadership and problem-solving skills
- A hands-on approach and strong attention to detail
- A current New Zealand driver’s licence
Relevant viticulture qualifications and machinery certifications are advantageous. Experience in the Bendigo region would also be beneficial, but is not essential.
