About the business
The Giesen Group is a family owned and operated producer and distributor of internationally recognised premium New Zealand wine and beverages. Established in 1981, the Giesen Brothers are seen as one of the pioneers of the New Zealand wine industry and leaders in producing Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The company has grown into a strong brand both domestically and also on the international stage where they export premium quality wine across the world as well as being on the cutting edge of change within the industry.
About the role
The Grower Manager is an important strategic position in our business as you will play a key part in meeting our future and existing demand requirements. It is a hands-on role, where you will enjoy getting out, meeting new people, developing new relationships but also enjoy the art of the deal!
We are a small team so you will collaborate closely with the Company Viticulturist, Technical Viticulturalist and the Winemaking team. We currently have growers based in Waipara, Marlborough and Hawkes Bay so some travel will be necessary on occasion.
The role will require you to develop our loyal grower base as well as collaborating closely with our team to develop new grape supply opportunities from within our existing grower base. You will have your finger on the pulse also looking for other opportunities through either acquisition and or lease blocks to increase our supply base - and of course finding that extra fruit at harvest time!
About you
You don’t necessarily have a viticultural or Oenology degree, you may have a Commerce degree instead, but regardless you are a self-motivated person who wants to be part of a business that likes to challenge the status quo and even better, beat them to the punch!
You think outside of the box when you need to and while you can create and deliver on your goals; you also can roll with the punches when needed.
You will have a proven track record of external client management coupled with sales (either from the rural sector or FMCG). It is not necessary to have viticultural knowledge but some understanding of the industry would be favourable.
What we can offer
You will be joining a collaborative, fun group of people, in a dynamic and flexible working environment
- A generous and competitive salary
- Wine allowance
- Health insurance
- Work vehicle
- Development opportunities
- A career and not just another job
