We’re looking for a Technical Viticulturist to join the team at Cloudy Bay. This position reports directly to the Viticulturist and is responsible for the Company viticultural technical programme, precision viticulture activities, vineyard information systems, and when required, vineyard and harvest operations. The Technical Viticulturist will work closely with the Viticulturist in grower liaison to implement programmes which will improve wine quality, protect wine integrity, assure fruit supply and closely manage costs. A high focus on viticultural understanding, business and production systems, interest in wine, discretion, accuracy, thoroughness and ability to work in with others in communicating technical and operational issues is critical to this role.
The safety and well-being of our employees is paramount and this position will take an active and mentoring role in implementing new safety practices as well as improving our existing practices across our vineyards.
In order to be successful in this position you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in viticulture to bachelors or masters level
- Practical vineyard experience and general knowledge of farming systems
- Practical winery / winemaking experience and knowledge of winemaking systems
- Developed sensory evaluation skills (wine tasting) and a commitment to quality wine
- Possess a strong customer focus with the ability to build successful relationships with key stakeholders
- Time Management skills
- Be a NZ citizen or permanent resident
