Chef - Fritzy Food Truck & Prep Kitchen

Monte Christo Winery is looking for a motivated and skilled Head Chef to lead Fritzy, our on-site food truck and prep kitchen. This is a hands-on role for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can prioritise effectively, and isn’t afraid to jump in where needed.

Most importantly, you’ll be a great fit with our team. A passion for wine and food pairing is ideal, but what matters most is your ability to consistently deliver high-quality, seasonal food while running a sole-charge kitchen. Great customer service and a friendly, positive attitude are essential, as you’ll often interact directly with guests taking counter orders.

This role also offers a fantastic opportunity for professional growth, with a second cellar door opening nearby in the near future. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Main responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: 

• Prepare & cook food on order  

• Receive stock, Prepare and store food items in line with food safety control plan 

• Follow all Health & Safety guidelines and SOPs at all times 

• Maintain a clean and organised work environment 

• Make quick and accurate decisions in the heat of service 

• Assist the Hospitality Manager in writing cost effective seasonal menus, function menus and specials 

• Ordering stock and dealing with food suppliers to established budgets

• Managing the staff in your kitchen team 

• Manage the FSCP in line with annual audits and inspections for both cellar door premises

• Strong inter-departmental communication skills with a willingness to adapt and help where necessary

Desired Skills & Knowledge 

• Previous experience in fast-paced food service roles, ideally in a leadership capacity

• Strong knowledge of food safety procedures, with excellent record-keeping and attention to detail

• High standards of organisation, tidiness, and efficiency

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with guests and inspire your team

• Experience with POS systems and cash handling

• A resilient work ethic and ability to thrive under pressure

• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required
