Who are we looking for?
A rare opportunity has come available to be part of the management/leadership team at one of New Zealand’s leading wine distributors, Vintners NZ Ltd.
We are seeking someone who can provide the pivotal link between winery brand owners and the company’s sales team by delivering successful sales and marketing strategies that will ensure stakeholders margin, sales and brand positioning expectations are met.
The sales landscape encompasses on-trade, retail, on-line and grocery customers both large and small.
Some out of town, overnight and international travel is required as part of the role.
What attributes and experience will you bring:
- A deep understanding of wine with proven wine evaluation skills. WSET L3 or equivalent as a minimum. Wine serious, but not a wine snob.
- The ability to confidently articulate the attributes of a glass of wine to both trade and consumers.
- A comprehensive understanding of the NZ and international wine sales market.
- Some existing industry relationships.
- Strong observational and reporting skills. Excel, trade margin and analytical skills need to be strong.
- A good negotiator and communicator, both oral and written.
- Ability to successfully traverse a wide variety of relationships, including winery owners, their marketing and sales personnel, winemakers, customer head office management, owner operators, restaurateurs, and end user wine drinkers and especially Vintners’ own sales team.
- Proficiency in developing and executing market brand plans.
- Event activation and hands on management.

A competitive remuneration package, including company vehicle and bonus will be offered to the successful applicant. The role is based at Vintners’ offices in Morningside, Auckland.
