Established in 1989, Central Otago Winegrowers Association (COWA) represents the members of the broader Central Otago wine region. Our members are committed to supporting investment and enhancement of the intrinsic value of our wine region - irrefutably Central Otago.
Your role:
To ensure we deliver on our purpose, vision, and values we are looking for someone to join our team as General Manager. As General Manager, you will lead Central Otago Winegrowers Association’s implementation of the work programme within the five pillars. Supported by a small team, this role requires a broad set of leadership, sponsorship, financial management, project management, identity building, media, digital competency, and the ability to advocate for the wine industry. This role interfaces with members, committees, and a wide range of stakeholders therefore excellent people management and relationship building skills are required. It is a unique position that requires someone who can lead while rubbing shoulders with those in significant roles however can also do the routine tasks to get the job done while being part of a team.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Build enduring relationships with our stakeholders.
- Develop and promote the identity of Central Otago’s wine region.
- Manage and implement a work programme across a range of work streams.
- Provide leadership both internally and externally, championing our purpose.
- Provide financial management and reporting.
- Provide governance responsibilities around annual members’ meetings and working closely with our Board.
Your experience:
- Experience in leading a team with the ability to be part of the team and turn your hand to whatever needs done.
- Ability to think strategically when developing and delivering a comprehensive work programme.
- Strong background in ensuring key relationships are fostered across a range of stakeholders, communities, and networks.
- Experience in obtaining sponsorship and managing sponsorship relationships.
- Excellent administrative, financial management and computer literacy skills.
- A familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, digital production, etc.
- Experience in strategic marketing, messaging and media engagement, supported by a demonstrated record of excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Relevant professional qualification, business, marketing or related field.
- An understanding or experience working for a membership organisation would be advantageous.
This is a full-time role based in Cromwell, Central Otago.
