A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join New Zealand's leading cider producer.

We are a young, enthusiastic team that has achieved global success through awards and sales growth. With our increasing production volume we require a QC specialist to join our team. This person will bring with them the skills and experience that contribute to working in a safe, fun, fast-paced environment. You will have a focus on product and packaging QC to ensure our cider meets all requirements before reaching our customers.

Reporting to our Production Manager and coordinating with the production and packaging departments, the QC Technician will constantly be assessing and evaluating the quality assurance systems in place and improve testing and systems to maintain the highest quality standards possible. The QC Technician will be hands-on, have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to research and analyse information. They will be task-focussed, methodical and accurate.

The QC Technician will be responsible for carrying out a variety of cider making operations which include, but are not limited to:

Quality Control - Cider Making

  • Ordering all lab and equipment supplies.
  • Ensure lab area and equipment are clean and well maintained.
  • Ensure all lab instruments are calibrated and accurate on a regular schedule.
  • Conduct all juice and cider analysis that are possible on site. (SO2, pH, TA, CO2, Liquid volumes, DO, % solids, FI)
  • Schedule, send and deliver outside analysis.
  • Ensure all lab SOP’s are accurate and up to date.
  • Undertake cider lab trials with direction from Head Cidermaker.

 Quality Control – Packaging

  • Work collaboratively with packaging Team Lead to create SOP’s related to Product and Packaging QC tests and procedures pre and post bottling.
  • QC projects – responsible for quality improvement projects (eg filtration, Carbonation, Sterilisation).
  • Responsible for package inspection, as well as documentation for product traceability.
  • Create and track library of all finished stock for cidermaking and customer complaint logs.

 Administration

  • Generate all Lab and Packaging QC SOP’s.
  • Record all Lab and Packaging records in XL and Cidermaking software (including product specifications, losses and breakages).
  • Communicate with clients supplying required analysis post bottling.
  • Support the Head Cidermaker regarding all compliance processes.
  • Research and product trials may be required.

 Cross-Functional Collaboration

The QC Technician will work cross-functionally across all departments to establish procedures and quality standards to measure against agreed targets. This is a pivotal role impacting all areas of the company and requires clear and concise communication with all departments.
