Nursery, Viticulture and Winemaking Intern (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

The three organisations:
 
Marlborough based New Zealand Wineries, Ormond Nurseries and SLT have joined forces to create a new ongoing full-time role working across all three businesses during the wine growing year.
 
In a nutshell, New Zealand Wineries provide winemaking services for premium New Zealand and international wine producers, Ormond Nurseries specialises in propagating top quality grafted grape plants for the New Zealand wine industry and SLT use modern technology and operate top-quality equipment to provide a high quality of workmanship over the full range of vineyard operations.
 
The job:
 
Following the journey from vine to wine, this is an exciting opportunity to gain year-round full-time employment propagating vines, operating vineyard machinery and making wine. This role is unique in that the Intern will get to work across the full scope of nursery, vineyard and winemaking operations – ensuring there is a variety of work and learning opportunities.
 
From May to November the Intern will work at Ormond Nurseries as a Propagation Technician, duties for this role include; processing plants in the nursery, budwood and rootstock collection, grafting, boxing and planting grapevines.
 
From December to February the Intern will work at SLT where they will operate modern vineyard machinery to upkeep and maintain vineyards during the growing season for clients across the Marlborough district.
 
Finally, from March through to April the Intern will undertake vintage at New Zealand Wineries learning all the core aspects of wine making, including receiving grapes, processing into juice, barrel and tank work, filtering, fermenting and forklift operations.
 
Health and Safety is top priority across all the roles and full training will be provided.
 
Additionally, a clear remuneration and development plan is in place across the three employers to ensure the successful candidate grows and develops and is rewarded for the skills they acquire along the way. It is envisaged that high performers will be promoted to Team Leader positions.

We are looking for several candidates to fulfil our requirements and the best thing is you do not need experience as full training will be provided.
 
You will however be motivated, willing and flexible. With high energy you will be physically fit. Change orientated with loads of initiative you will be practical. You will also be able to work an iPhone and various Apps. Most importantly you will be a team player.
