We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Winemaker with a passion for wine and a good sense of humour. Within this role you will be assisting with a broad range of winemaking duties. It encompasses the winemaking process from fruit reception through to preparation for bottling. Diving hands-on into all aspects of winemaking and producing a range of premium Marlborough varietal wines sold throughout the globe.

You will be working on the estate in Blenheim in the heart of Marlborough, one of New Zealand’s most stunning wine regions. Along the Golden Mile lies our 100% privately owned and operated family winery adjacent to our vineyards. Together with talented winemakers and cellar hands throughout the year and supervising a shift of young professionals over the harvest period.

You tick the box if you have:

• A passion for wine

• Solid leadership and training skills

• Staff supervision experience

• The ability to communicate effectively (in English)

• At least 3 vintages’ working experience with cool climate grape varieties

• Experience with winemaking record keeping systems

• A sense of humour

• A strong safety focus

• Tertiary qualification in Winemaking

• Practical skills working with winery machinery

• Tasting experience and curiosity

• Excellent skills in baking small treats, savouries, croissants, pastries, slices, cakes etc.

• Forklift licence

This is a hands on role in a fast paced winery that requires the energy to make things happen when it counts. Your knowledge of wine and winemaking will be just as important as the ability to work well within a close knit team. Maintaining strict quality standards and contributing to overall wine styles will be an integral part of the role.
