This role is responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the laboratory at the VinLink Riverland’s winery ensuring accurate and timely analysis provided to clients.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities Laboratory:

Follow all regulatory, documentation and training requirements associated with the employment of permanent and seasonal laboratory workers.

Effectively supervise training of workers in best practice laboratory operations.

Be responsible for elements of the laboratory budget development and maintenance and advise and help with the purchasing of appropriate laboratory equipment.

Manage and maintain detailed SOPs for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of all VinLink laboratory equipment.

Operate effective laboratory certification systems.

Ensure accurate and timely chemical analyses of wines and juices using a variety of methods (e.g., titration, distillation, enzymatic chemistry) and specialized instrumentation, in adherence to current SOP’s.

Ensure analysis is transcribed into appropriate forms and/or winery management system accurately and in a timely manner.

Oversee laboratory computer entries into vintrace to enable effective reporting, maintain certifications and traceability, satisfy client requirements, and fulfil winery workloads.

Uphold the integrity of the laboratory by ensuring the accuracy and repeatability of all analysis reported.

Ensure analyses are carried out as part of the laboratory’s participation in any external proficiency programmes.

Manage activities related to improving and calibrating lab equipment and complying with preventative maintenance schedules.

Lead the annual review of Laboratory SOP’s and associated documents, and implementation of new SOP’s.

Manage the tracking and purchasing of Laboratory consumables.

Maintain the laboratory in excellent readiness and cleanliness.

Conduct annual reviews of laboratory workers and make performance recommendations.
Be proactive in ensuring the laboratory remains a safe and healthy working environment. Perform any other responsibilities and deliverables as may be required from time to time.
Skills, Experience & Education:
-
Minimum 4 years’ laboratory experience including proven supervisory ability.

Experience in Wine Production, an advantage.

Advanced written and oral communication skills.

Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work to multiple deadlines.

Self-motivated, with an ability to work as part of a team, and independently, when required and works well under pressure.
NZ citizen, permanent resident, or applicable working visa.
