Awatere River Wine Company is located in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. We produce premium Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Methode sparkling wines. Awatere River Wine Company is part of Booster Wine Group, which is a collection of NZ wineries and including Gravity (Nelson), and Sileni Wines (Hawkes Bay).

We are seeking to fill 2x senior cellar hand roles. Our ideal candidates need to be enthusiastic and motivated, with at least 3 years of cellar experience and equivalent NZQCF level 4 qualification or higher and hold full driver's license. Applicants will require sound attention to detail, strong interpersonal and team skills, motivation, initiative, and the stamina required to be effective in a busy environment.

This is a hands-on role, so candidates need a good level of fitness and to be happy working outdoors. As Senior cellar hand, this role comes with more responsibility, you need to be comfortable as a leading hand, training or assisting with supervision in the cellar. You should understand and promote Health and Safety requirements, wine quality and food safety considerations, be a practical problem solver, be able to complete tasks on time to a high standard and have good written and verbal communication skills.   

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a close-knit, friendly team who are dedicated to producing quality wines. We offer a broad range of winery experiences including small-lot hand-picked vineyard parcels, as well as the opportunity to be working closely with new technologies such as Continuous flotation & Omnia filtration. Experience with the forklift is beneficial. 

Transport to and from Blenheim to Awatere valley is provided in our company van which senior staff are required to drive. Pay rate is between $30-$33 per hour, dependent on experience.
