Booster, through it’s Booster Tahi investment arm, is making significant investments in New Zealand’s agricultural business including avocados, kiwi fruit; and through investments in Awatere River, Waimea Estates, Bannock Brae and Sileni Estates, the wine industry. It is here where a dynamic, reliable team player is required to join our Awatere River Vineyards as an Irrigation Technician.
You will be part of our viticultural operations team that will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of our irrigation systems across all vineyards in Marlborough. With over 280 hectares in production, this is a hands-on role that involves operations over multiple vineyard sites.
This will be a senior role with overlap into other viticulture departments of operations and technical.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Be able to work flexible hours from time to time throughout the viticulture year
- Be able to maintain all irrigation systems and technical equipment so they run reliably and at maximum efficiency
- Have a history in engineering or relevant tertiary education.
- Ability to project manage and commission current and new irrigation systems
- Ability to work well in a small team or sole charge and assist with organising and supervising staff in activities such as frost, development, harvest, and other operations throughout the year as required.
- Perform duties as directed; safely, effectively, and efficiently, using viticulture best practice.
- Practical knowledge of machinery and implement use including ATVs, tractors and vineyard equipment
- Be able to build and maintain database with all relevant information required to run each individual system/site. This will include SOP’s for operating each system, irrigation maps and problem resolution sheets
- Have a valid, full New Zealand’s driver’s license and Heavy Transport license.
An enthusiastic attitude, open mind, self- motivation, organisation, details focus and strong communicator with great time management skills will go far in this role.
