Bragato Research Institute (BRI) drives world-leading innovation for the New Zealand wine industry - from blue sky research through to the practical application of science in our vineyards, wineries, and supply chain. Launched in 2017 through programme funding from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, we are a wholly owned subsidiary of New Zealand Winegrowers, the national industry body for growers and wineries.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Viticulture Extension Assistant to join our team. As a core member of our extension team, you will be responsible for working with the Extension Manager to enhance the communication and uptake of outcomes from the industry’s research programme. While the role focusses on extension, as part of a small team the role involves plenty of variety across field trials and possibly the research winery, depending on each season’s requirements. You will need to be a people-person as you will be required to interact frequently with winegrowers and researchers facilitating a strong two-way flow of knowledge.
In addition to strong written and verbal communication skills, you will have a tertiary qualification in viticulture and a minimum of 2-3 years technical viticulture experience.
As we are a national organisation, some travel will be required and ideally, the candidate would be willing to be based in Marlborough. There is some flexibility for the right candidate to be based in another New Zealand wine region.
