Spy Valley Wines Ltd is a successful, family-owned winery based in Marlborough that continues to grow and develop its award-winning wines and overseas markets. Since its inception, Spy Valley Wines has delivered outstanding wines and it has gone from strength to strength culminating in three gold medals for Sauvignon Blanc this year, at the Royal Easter Show wine awards.     

Spy Valley Wines is looking for a talented Winemaker to join its prestigious winemaking team. This experienced Winemaker will have a love of Marlborough wines and an in-depth understanding of Marlborough’s unique place in the world of wine, and can translate that into winemaking decisions that result in truly exceptional wines for our international market. 

This role reports to our talented Chief Winemaker who has an international background in Australia and USA before she moved to Marlborough, and is renowned for her award-winning wines and international judging experience. All aspects of developing, planning and managing the day-to-day winery operations sit with this Winemaker role and are supported by the Chief Winemaker. The role will also be responsible for managing the Pinot Noir programme during harvest. 

We are expecting a talented Winemaker who is hungry to learn and wants to work in an exceptional winemaking team with a great crew, who loves to participate in the presentation and marketing of our wine. That person will have a degree in winemaking, experience in making all wines with a special appreciation and love of Pinot Noir, they must be highly organised, detailed in their work, have a sharp business acumen, exceptional communication skills, collaborative and be experienced in leading a team.
