Palliser Estate is an acclaimed pioneer of the Martinborough region with 73 hectares of vineyards on the Martinborough Terraces, 25% of which are now under organic management. The varieties and styles we produce include Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot gris, Riesling, Sauvignon blanc, Rosé and Methode Traditionelle.
This is an exciting time to join the new winemaking team who are focused on lifting the quality and status of the Palliser range, including introducing single vineyard and organic wines that are amongst the best in NZ.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Winemaker to be part of the winemaking team responsible for all winemaking. These responsibilities include the practical tasks required in the winery, as well as managing the cellar and the bottling programme. Also responsible for the recruitment and management of all cellar staff. There will also be promotional and marketing elements to the role.
This is a great opportunity for an up-and-coming Winemaker who is ambitious, passionate and fun. This role will be involved in all aspects of the business and will offer career progression for the right person.
The successful applicant will:
- have relevant experience in winemaking and cellar management
- hold a relevant tertiary qualification
- be dynamic, organised and driven with a passion for making wines of the highest standard
- have a passion for sustainability and organics
- possess strong interpersonal skills
- be based in Martinborough (or the greater Wairarapa area)
- be technology savvy
- have the characteristics and personal attributes to work effectively in our small team
Remuneration is commensurate with experience and an attractive package is on offer for the successful applicant.
