Opening in July, The Runholder is the new home of Te Kairanga, Martinborough Vineyard and Lighthouse Gin in Martinborough.
Nestled on the edge of the famed Martinborough Terrace, our restaurant, tasting room and distillery gather together Wairarapa’s best food, fine wines and famous gin under one roof, with spectacular views of Martinborough’s rolling countryside.
Guests will feast on contemporary menus of local produce, explore the wines of both Te Kairanga and Martinborough Vineyard, and see the distiller at work while sipping on Martinborough’s original Lighthouse Gin.
We are looking for senior wait staff to provide excellent hospitality to our guests as part of our dining room team. We are a team of people who show great care in our work and are searching for people to join us who desire to make people feel great and welcome to the Runholder and the wider region. The role is predominantly based in the dining room, however where possible we will be able to offer a diversity of duties Including the cellar door and culinary team.
Working well in a team toward a common goal, empathy towards others, a positive attitude towards personal development, showing integrity and a 'can do' work ethic are essential.
The Senior Waiter role will show experience and a desire to mentor junior floor staff and assist them in their development alongside the restaurant manager.
This is a full-time permanent role, working a minimum of 30 hours over 5 days each week as rostered, weekends included. In this role you will report to the venue managers. We offer a competitive pay rate ($25.00 - $26.00) depending on experience, and a wine allowance accessing wines from New Zealand’s most acclaimed wine regions.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver memorable wine and dining experiences through commitment to and fostering of The Runholder guest experience standards.
- Mentor junior floor staff and assist them in their development alongside the restaurant manager.
- Effective section management, table service, wine service and anticipation of guests’ needs.
- Active participation and leadership in team meetings and continual development of wine, spirits, menu and supplier knowledge.
- Conversation-led selling to ensure guests get the most out of their Runholder experience.
- Ensure punctuality, smart personal presentation, an enjoyable atmosphere, section well prepared and stocked, and great communication with managers and team.
