Heron's Flight Vineyard

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time employee to join the family at Heron's Flight Vineyard in Matakana.
Heron's Flight has about 4.5ha of grapes and specializes entirely in the Italian reds, Sangiovese and Dolcetto. We have been operating since 1987.
The position involves working both in the vineyard and winery. Tractor work and use of machinery is essential. As is the ability to work on one's own. Knowledge of viticulture will be an advantage, but not essential, as on-site training will take place.
Working with the Winemaker means learning about all facets of winemaking, from harvest, barrel work, lab testing and hygiene.
Once attuned to how we do things at Heron's Flight, and with demonstrated experience, the position will assume greater responsibility in all areas of grape growing and winemaking.
We are looking for someone with motivation and the ability to both work in a team and on their own. For someone who is interested in the overall vision of producing wine from these Italian grape varieties, but also in the details of how to achieve this.
It is also expected that general farm work will be required from time to time.
Experience in grape growing and/or winemaking will be an advantage. As will be relevant qualifications.
The salary will be commensurate with this experience. And only those able to work within NZ need apply.
