Omata Estate Vineyard & Kitchen in Russell is looking for a hands-on restaurant and cellar door manager.
The ideal person isn’t afraid of hard work, has a good sense of humour and enjoys working a part of and leading a small team.
Located in the beautiful Bay of Islands, our golden sunsets will celebrate the end of your working day. We are open 5 days a week (closed on Tuesdays/Wednesdays), 11am-6pm. We are lucky enough to promote awesome hospitality hours!! Occasionally open in the evenings for weddings and functions, no split shifts, and two days off in a row. We are a small team that strive to offer flexibility and encourage work life balance.
Remuneration will be reflective of experience and accommodation could be provided for the right applicant.

Some key tasks may include:
- Effectively manage staff on a day to day basis – start times/end times, assigning breaks - including coordinating the front & kitchen operations
- Staff recruiting, training, supervising and rostering
- Deliver and promote outstanding customer service
- Daily/weekly supplier ordering & reporting
- Opening and closing procedures – ensuring these are done appropriately.
- Taking bookings via phone & email. Table allocation and coordinate booking times to ensure smooth running of the shift.
- Wholesale orders – taking orders, invoices and ensure are delivered.
- Event bookings and management
- Daily cashing up & reporting. Point of sale system used is POSBOSS. Cash banking daily or weekly.
- Know all set menus/drink packages offered to group bookings and functions. Be aware of events calendar and proactively prepare for upcoming functions.
- Implement menu and wine list updates - organise menu alterations and update POS and stock systems.
- Financial administration - invoicing for deposit payments, approving invoices for inventory.
- Monthly stocktaking.
About Omata Estate Vineyard & Kitchen - we are a small boutique vineyard that grows great wines! We have a relaxed style eatery with efficient table service that overlooks the ocean/vines. We have a simple menu serving gourmet platters and wood fired pizzas, we also have a small cellar door where wine tastings & sales are offered.
We are open 5 days a week (closed on Tuesdays/Wednesdays), 11am-6pm. Occasionally in the evenings for weddings and functions. This role will be fixed term from September 15th - May 2022. We could be open year around if the right applicant applied for the job.
