Cellar Door Manager (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Chard Farm, a family-owned winery located in Queenstown, is seeking a Cellar Door Manager to oversee the operations of their tasting room and related activities. With a rich history dating back to 1987, Chard Farm is among the original pioneers of the Central Otago Wine industry. As the Cellar Door Manager, you will lead a small team of knowledgeable and enthusiastic Cellar hosts, ensuring the smooth running of the tasting room, order processing, wine dispatch, internet sales and the wine club.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate the hosting of tastings at the Cellar Door, providing visitors with an exceptional experience.
  • Manage customer orders, ensuring accuracy, timely processing and efficient dispatch of wine shipments.
  • Develop and maintain a top-level Winery Club, managing member communications and shipments.
  • Utilize CRM tools to effectively manage customer data, sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Lead and motivate the Cellar hosts, fostering a positive work environment and providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Handle administrative duties related to the position, including record-keeping, inventory management and reporting.
  • Manage online sales platforms and ensure a seamless customer experience for online purchases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in managing a wine tasting room, restaurant or bar.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various aspects of Cellar Door operations effectively.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly and welcoming demeanor while interacting with customers and the team.
  • Ability to lead a small team, delegate tasks and foster a collaborative and motivated work environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in organizing and building a top-level Winery Club, including member communications and offerings.
  • Solid understanding of CRM systems and sales processes. General computer literacy is essential.
  • New Zealand Residency: Applicants must be New Zealand residents or possess the right to work permanently in New Zealand.
