Cellar Door Assistant Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Postage Stamp and Obsidian Wineries are seeking a Cellar Door Assistant Manager as part of the cellar door management team. The Cellar Door Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Cellar Door. This includes supervising, training, and assisting staff with their delivery of paid seated premium wine tasting experiences and private tours. The role will be an ambassador of the brand, through delivering service and sharing knowledge when hosting visitors. 

The Cellar Door Assistant Manager is responsible for conducting wine tastings; leading estate, assisting with hosting tourism groups and at private functions; and promoting the sales of our wines. 

As Cellar Door Assistant Manager you will deliver wine tastings and wine sales by providing an exceptional customer experience through delivering a high standard of service and wine education.

The Employee’s duties include:

  1. The duties of this position include, and are not limited, by the following: 
  • As delegated by the Business Manager and Operations Manager, lead the cellar door team, including staff management, training and coaching 
  • Conducting wine tastings and assisting with hosting tourism groups, and providing assistance and leadership at private functions, events and other visitor experiences
  • Actively promote the sale of our wines and services to contribute to the achievement of sales revenue targets, execute sales promotions and implement sales tactics increase customer spend and encourage visitors to sign up to our wine club
  • Be responsive to all customer feedback, compliments, complaints, and enquiries – face to face, over the phone and via email
  • Stock control & stock taking for cellar door, including control of wine, and merchandise 
  • Assistance with support of online sales, including assisting customers, processing, packing and dispatch duties if required
  • Assistance with private functions, event and tourism groups, including co-ordination and delivery of experiences
  • Responsible for ensuring that opening and closing procedures are followed and the Cellar Door presented appropriately for customers in a clean, tidy and presentable manner at all times 
  • Communicate product and brand information to guests
  • Lead the cellar door team on a day-to-day basis, including on the job training, taking group and tour bookings, till counts, online & hard copy diary management
  • Actively promote the sale of our wines with an aim to increase customer spend to meet the sales forecast
  • Assisted with responding to and managing group bookings, wine tasting enquiries and private tour reservations
  • Work in a manner which is conductive to & compliant with all H&S policies and procedures. 
  • Any other operational requirements as required, and all other reasonable duties directed by the Employer from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Managers License
  • Previous winery experience and wine knowledge
