We are looking for the right person to join our small team and lead the “on-the-ground” efforts in the evolution of our exclusively Pinot noir, 12ha vineyard here in Wanaka.
We planted the vineyard in 2002 and launched our brand “akitu” with the 2012 vintage. Since then, we have been blessed with some stunning accolades and reviews and our wine is now exported to many markets.
Fruit quality is paramount to our mission, and it is now time to evolve practices in the vineyard, so we are looking to permanently employ someone with the following qualities:
- Energy, enterprise and an enquiring viticultural mind
- The ability to work in different modes:
- Alone (e.g., spraying, frost-fighting)
- as the leader of a small team (e.g., thinning, pruning)
- as the coordinator of contracting resources (e.g., harvest)
- An interest, but not an obsession, in organics and regenerative practices
- The ability to cheerfully promote what we do, how we do it and the wines we make
- The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in fine wine and what it takes to consistently produce it.
Whilst our team is small our ambitions are not, we want to make the best wine we can from the (often-exciting) weather delivered to our beautiful site - vintage after vintage.
Tertiary qualification preferred
Current driver’s license with good tractor skills
A sunny disposition
A competitive package commensurate with experience and education will be offered. Work truck supplied.
