Develop Events & Activities with the Events Team and Manage all communications from the Club to Club members to encourage attendance.
Actively manage branding of the Club from digital & print media, to social and email communications with our digital designer to encourage participation and engagement.
The Responsibilities
Developing ideas for events in conjunction with the Events Manager which could range from cheese and wine tastings to grand balls and travel overseas.
Developing club dining opportunities which connect with city events, ie WOW, Wellington on a Plate, Pre-theatre, Rugby, Football etc
Liaise with our designer to develop promotional material including event brochures, club brochures, club news, flyers etc.
Liaison with Reciprocal Clubs with consideration of interclub events or promotional events which encourage reciprocal visitors.
Planning and promoting membership conquest events which attract future membership.
Promotion of future special interest groups and encouraging membership engagement.
Liaising with key speakers, guest chefs and stakeholders.
Promotion of Health & Fitness related events such as seminars, exercise programmes or group walks in conjunction with the Health & Fitness Manager.
Promoting accommodation through visitors and guests of Members at Club events.
Members –
- Encourage member to member friendship
- Encourage members to nominate new members to the club.
- Maximise the continued growth of Club Membership
The Person
We are looking for an imaginative, well-rounded individual to continue to strengthen our current event offering. The individual will need to posses a genuine interest in people, have strong design skills and an eye for detail.
Manage all communications from the Club (on behalf of Committee and Management) to Club members. Actively manage branding of the Club from digital to print media to include social media account management and to ensure the expectation of the younger members are met.
DUTIES
- Work with senior management team to establish an annual ongoing “marketing and communications” plan in line with the club’s strategic goals
- Assist with event concepts and ideas and develop provocative campaigns and marketing to attract members and guests.
- Manage lead generation), email and marketing campaigns, “sales” and business development
- Design and produce copy for weekly EDMs and the Club newsletter
- Regularly update website content and co-ordinate ongoing web development
- Support and promote club goals, policies, standards and operating procedures
- Design menus, wine lists, place cards, themed items for events
- Assist the younger members with their membership needs, including encouraging them to become actively involved in the Club’s activities
- Plan, execute and host events relevant to the younger age group to include with prospective members, promote privileges and obligations of membership
- Have a good knowledge of local and international food and beverage and use this to promote dining, menus and club events
- Maintain a photo/video portfolio of events to be used for promotional purposes
The Club
Established in 1841, The Wellington Club is the oldest private members club in New Zealand, providing a haven for women and men to relax, socialise, host events and conduct daily routines for business and pleasure.
The Club’s day to day operation provides services to our 1550 members by way of dining, events, accommodation, business & meeting rooms, a library, multiple dining facilities and the Health & Fitness Club. Members enjoy reciprocal benefits with over 120 Clubs around the world.
The focus of the Club Events is to provide an avenue for our members to engage and connect with one another. They need to appeal to our existing membership but also provide interest for future members. Communication of events should be such to encourage attendance and enjoyment.
We need a creative person to build on the current Club calendar, to design, execute and communicate new and interesting events and to encourage attendance.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Communications/PR/Marketing qualifications desirable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (copywriting experience desirable)
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, Indesign & Capsule CRM useful
• Strong email media skills and a strong eye for graphic design and branding
• Experience in communications/PR field

Management
- Establish clear communications to the Members through the use of email, magazine statements or other publications according to an agreed upon schedule.
- Experience using software applications such as CRMs, email marketing (Mail Chimp/Transpond), Social Media (Facebook, Instagram), Outlook and other Microsoft software would be advantageous.
Education/Experience
The successful candidate will have likely had a previous events management, hotel or marketing background and have excellent customer service skills.
Remuneration
The salary will be suitable to attract the suitable candidate and will be based on 40 hours.
