Palliser Estate Wines of Martinborough Ltd (“Palliser”) is one of New Zealand’s iconic wine companies with a prestigious heritage and exciting future. It is an unlisted public company, proudly owned by a small number of loyal and passionate New Zealanders, who believe in investing in super premium producers. 

Palliser is situated in the wine village of Martinborough and owns 6 vineyards (92 hectares) around the village on the famed Martinborough Terrace and operates a successful Cellar Door and restaurant at the winery site. Palliser exports to around 25 countries, accounting for around 40-50% of sales. New Zealand is the largest market with direct sales becoming a focus in recent years

This is an exciting new role established to build on the work done over the last 5 years to increase brand awareness and advocacy of Palliser as a premium fine wine producer. In specific it will be focused on increasing brand awareness and digital reach to drive direct sales and focus.

The role is flexible and anticipated to be 3 days a week to start with. One of those days (at least) will be required to be on-site at the winery in Martinborough. If the right application required a full-time role, this could be considered.

About the Role

The role of the Marketing Executive is a dual role responsible for all marketing activities including the social media channels.   Specifically, this includes developing and implementing the marketing and social media plan, as well as other events and activities that Palliser may be involved in from time to time. 

This is a new role established to build on the work done over the last 5 years to increase brand awareness and advocacy of Palliser as a premium fine wine producer. In specific it will be focused on increasing brand awareness and digital reach to drive direct sales and focus.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Marketing

  • Growth of direct sales, brand advocacy and success of events and activities through developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan. 
  • Assist in managing the website and web content
  • Manage image and asset libraries, files and registers relating to marketing activity 
  • Assist with the leverage of media and PR opportunities 
  • Create exciting and engaging marketing campaigns and promotional content that builds brand awareness, grows audiences, maximises reach and converts to sales.
  • Deliver post campaign reporting and evaluation 
  • Manage supplier relationships, including creative, media and brand collaborator’s. 
  • Using analytics and survey tools to measure engagement and report on success/areas for improvement
  • Provide in-house design assistance, such as the creation of digital ads and other small design jobs as required

Social media

  • Development and implementation of the social media strategy 
  • Day to day management of social channels, including monitoring and responding to questions, complaints and comments from people who make direct contact
  • Planning, updating and delivering the content calendar including coordinating all required content (images, videos etc)
  • Source, plan, create, and post effective advertising and promotional content that can be shared via multiple channels and contributes to building our social media presence, maximises reach and converts to sales and advocacy. 
  • Assess and advise on any reputational risk or opportunity associated with social media content 
  • Use analytics and tools to manage and report on social media channels.

Budget Management

  • Manage any allocated budgets in a prudent manner and identify key ways to maximise the return on our investment
  • Find efficiencies and propose cost savings as appropriate

Technical Skills/Qualifications

At least five years’ marketing and social media management experience within a communications/marketing team 

  • Sound understanding and experience of marketing practices and delivery that engages and encourages purchasing behaviours
  • Sound understanding and experience of the external social media environment
  • Connects and engages with others through use of different social media platforms and demonstrated judgement and experience delivering promotional messages through these platforms
  • Experience with social media management tools
  • A proven track record of success and achievement
  • Strong demonstrated experience of creative and copywriting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a close-knit relationship with partners that result in benefits to your organisation
  • Proven business skills and demonstrated commitment to action and to delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Prepared to work in an open and flexible environment
  • Self-starter who is positive, energetic and prepared to go above and beyond.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in a commercial business environment would be preferred
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline would be highly regarded
  • Event management experience would be highly regarded.
